A corner of the Lane that smells of warm bread by seven.
Rowan & Rye started with one deck oven, a second-hand espresso machine and a stubborn idea: that a neighbourhood deserves proper bread and proper coffee without the trek into town.
We mill and bake in the back before the buses start running — long-proved sourdough, laminated pastries, and whatever the season hands us. Out front it's an unfussy room: marble-topped tables, a big communal bench, and a corner that's yours whether you're here for ten minutes or the whole morning.
Everything on the counter is made a few feet from where you'll eat it. If it isn't good enough for us to eat, it doesn't go out.
